Heap Leaching Gold Extraction Process

The heap leaching process for gold extraction involves crushing low-grade gold ore to a specified particle size (or pelletizing it), stacking the crushed material on a leach pad lined with materials such as asphalt, concrete, or plastic to prevent leakage, and then spraying the ore pile with dilute cyanide solutions, alkaline solutions, non-toxic solvents, or dilute sulfuric acid. These leaching agents dissolve the gold, allowing gold-bearing solution to percolate through the ore pile. The gold is subsequently recovered by methods such as activated carbon adsorption or zinc dust displacement precipitation.

【Process Introduction】:
The heap leaching process for gold extraction involves crushing low-grade gold ore to a specified particle size (or pelletizing it), stacking the crushed material on a leach pad lined with materials such as asphalt, concrete, or plastic to prevent leakage, and then spraying the ore pile with dilute cyanide solutions, alkaline solutions, non-toxic solvents, or dilute sulfuric acid. These leaching agents dissolve the gold, allowing the gold-bearing solution to percolate through the ore pile. The gold is subsequently recovered by methods such as activated carbon adsorption or zinc dust displacement precipitation.

Heap leaching for gold extraction has relatively low requirements for topographic conditions, allowing for site-specific design that leverages local terrain features to establish either permanent dump-type heaps or stacked heaps. For example, when the summit or slope is gently sloping and relatively open, it is advisable to construct a permanent dump-type heap.

•Raw Ore Processing
After the raw ore is crushed to a specified particle size using jaw crushers and cone crushers manufactured by Nankex Heavy Industry, it is either directly stacked and leached, or subjected to pelletizing before being loaded onto trucks via forklifts and conveyed to the ore stockpile area for stacking.

•Pile Leaching System
A heap-leaching system is installed over the prepared ore heap. After the cyanide solution reacts with the ore, gold-bearing leachate percolates out from the base of the heap and flows into a leachate collection pond. The leachate is then pumped by leachate pumps into adsorption columns, where gold is adsorbed onto activated carbon. The eluate, now depleted of gold, is returned to the spray system for recirculation and reuse.

【Application Fields】:
Heap leaching is commonly employed for the development of gold deposits that are either small in size, low in grade, or both—deposits that cannot be economically exploited using conventional methods.
