Highway Material Solutions

Sand and gravel aggregates used in highway construction are subject to stringent quality standards, particularly with regard to particle shape, gradation, physicochemical properties, and cleanliness. To ensure highway quality, the relevant authorities have established a comprehensive set of rigorous standards for these aggregates, which in turn place high demands on aggregate production processes and equipment. Consequently, when investors enter this industry, they need suppliers like Nanke Heavy Industry to provide professional turnkey solutions and state-of-the-art equipment for producing sand and gravel aggregates for highways.

In the construction of expressways, once an expressway project is approved, each contract section typically conducts a market survey for sand and gravel aggregates within its scope to secure aggregate supply. Ultimately, no more than two quarries are selected, with strict requirements for uniform specifications and color, good angularity, low flakiness and elongation, stable rock quality, consistent particle-size distribution, and reliable supply volumes.

The aggregate materials used for expressways are classified into four size ranges: 0–5 mm stone powder, 5–10 mm crushed stone, 10–20 mm crushed stone, and 20–25 mm crushed stone. Particular attention shall be paid to controlling the gradation, crushing value, bulk density and water absorption, flakiness index, and silt content of the crushed stone; specific requirements can be found in the “Construction Code for Pavement Base Courses” (JTJ034-2000).

Complete Equipment Solutions for Highway Aggregate Production

Highway aggregate crushing and screening equipment is generally categorized into two types: stationary units, which are suited for sand-and-gravel yards established near mining resources along the highway corridor. Such production lines are typically large-scale, making them more appropriate for large-scale, high-standard construction projects; however, they have longer construction timelines and impose relatively stringent requirements on site selection and environmental protection. The other type is mobile equipment, designed for on-site processing of aggregates generated during tunneling or excavation operations—whether sourced locally or from dispersed mineral deposits and riverbeds. Thanks to their rapid deployment, lack of need for permanent infrastructure, and flexible, on-demand operation, mobile units better meet the needs of typical short-duration, multi-stage, long-distance construction projects.
